School Holiday Clubs, Forest of Dean, 2020

New for 2020! Multi-activity school holiday clubs make a great flexible childcare option for parents, bookable as individual days or a week at a time.

Our holiday clubs complement term-time education by acting as a medium for child-led learning. Our clubs are focussed on new experiences, confidence building and fun.

Professional and caring staff will be 100% raring to go to deliver a fantastic fun programme for kids and complete reassurance for you!

Dates

Monday 13th April – Kayaking and Mountain Biking at Mallards Pike

Timings: 09.30am – 03.00pm

We will be learning to kayak at Mallards Pike lake in the morning – great fun for any age and ability.

We will break for lunch on the picnic tables near the lake.

In the afternoon we will be riding the family trail in the Forest of Dean, a beginner level mountain bike trail through the forest!

All sessions will be taken by qualified outdoor instructors, with instructor to student ratios of no more than 1:8.

Toilets are available nearby throughout the day.

Tuesday 14th April – Climbing/Abseiling and Orienteering at Symonds Yat

Timings: 09.30am – 03.00pm

In the morning we will head on a guided walk into the beautiful woods near the river, where students will learn basic orienteering skills, and at the end have a friendly competition. This activity never fails to get students interacting with each other, learning to communicate and growing in confidence.

We will break for lunch on the picnic tables in the car park at the top of the cliff.

In the afternoon it’s time to get climbing! Symonds Yat is a fantastic real-rock climbing and abseiling location for all levels.

All sessions will be taken by qualified outdoor instructors, with instructor to student ratios of no more than 1:8.

Toilets are available nearby throughout the day.

Wednesday 15th April – Forest School and Archery at (Location)

Timings: 09.30am – 03.00pm

At Forest School we will have opportunities to develop confidence and self-esteem through hands-on learning experiences in a woodland environment.

Forest School is a specialised learning approach that sits within and complements the wider context of outdoor and woodland education.

Break for lunch

In the afternoon, we will be learning how to use a bow and arrow, the history of archery and having friendly competitions in teams. This activity is always a big hit with children of all ages, and requires no previous experience.

All sessions will be taken by qualified outdoor instructors, with instructor to student ratios of no more than 1:8.

Thursday 16th April – Day Trip into the Brecon Beacons

Timings: 09.30am – 03.00pm

Experience the wild outdoors on a day out in the hills in the Brecon Beacons with one of our experienced guides. Students will get the chance to bond as a group, navigate, as well as learn about the natural environment around them.

Friday 17th April – Stand Up Paddle Boarding and Bushcraft Survival at Mallards Pike

Timings: 09.30am – 03.00pm

We will start the morning on the water at Mallards Pike Lake with a stand up paddle boarding session! Children of any age can enjoy being on a board, learning the basics and working as a team!

Participants are likely to get wet, so a spare change of clothes and a towel is recommended.

We will stop for lunch at the picnic tables at the car park.

In the afternoon, one of our bushcraft instructors will take a bushcraft survival session in the woods close by. How would you survive if you had only what you had around about you in the wild? How would you create a shelter and keep warm? Children love this session as it is highly interactive, thought provoking and interesting.

All sessions will be taken by qualified outdoor instructors, with instructor to student ratios of no more than 1:8.

Pricing

£30 per child per day
5 days £140 per child

Transport

We will provide transport from St Briavels School at 09.00am each morning, and drop children back to St Briavels School for Xpm each afternoon.

Weather

Sometimes the weather can impact whether we can run a session. However we will always replace it with another alternative should the weather be particularly bad.
